It was the turn of Vice Ganda and Kuya Kim Atienza to show off on “Magpasikat Week,” the week-long talent show of the hosts to mark the noontime show’s fourth anniversary.

APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE. Vice Ganda performs on It's Showtime Magpasikat Week.

APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE. Vice Ganda performs on It’s Showtime Magpasikat Week. Screengrab from the video.

Not to be outdone by his fellow “It’s Showtime” co-hosts, the Unkabogable Vice Ganda opened his act by singing Madonna’s “Frozen,” while donned in a flashy red dress.

Vhong Navarro, Coleen Garcia and Billy Crawford did a hi-tech performance yesterday.

Vice was supposed to be teamed up with Kuya Kim but unfortunately due to health reasons, he was not able to perform. Kuya Kim only gave a sincere video message asking for apology for not being able to perform on stage.

Following the video, the judges were escorted outside the studio to a small stage where Vice was ready to perform a sing and dance routine while doing acrobatics in the tune of Lady Gaga’s “Applause.”

The Madlang People were surprised when Kapamilya hunk JC de Vera made an appearance on stage.

“Magpasikat Week” is an annual tradition of “It’s Showtime” where the winning team wins Php100,000 for their chosen charity.

Closing the “Magpasikat Week” tomorrow will be the duo of Anne Curtis and Jhong Hilario.

Kapamilya comedian Vice Ganda made a stint on “It’s Showtime” where he spoofed and imitated Kapuso broadcaster Arnold Clavio on the noontime show’s “Sine Mo ‘To” segment, Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

Arnold Clavio drew flak from netizens for his rude side comments and being arrogant during his phone interview with Janet Napoles’ lawyer on “Unang Hirit” on Tuesday.

Is this Vice Ganda’s way to get back on Arnold Clavio, who also accused him of being arrogant after Vice’s “rape joke” was fired on Jessica Soho during his concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) set a hearing with “Unang Hirit” anchor Arnold Clavio and the program’s management on Wednesday after his alarming interview with Atty. Alfredo Villamor.

On Tuesday night, MTRCB sent a notice to the show’s management informing them of a meeting on November 11 to tackle the “alarming language and scenes” in its November 5 telecast.

ALARMING. Arnold Clavio called out by MTRCB for "rude" interview.

During that episode, Clavio spoke with Villamor on the phone regarding Janet Napoles who repeatedly clarified which of Napoles’ cases Villamor is handling. The newscaster was tagged as “rude” and “unprofessional” by viewers of the program on social media.

MTRCB chairperson Atty. Eugenio Villareal said the hearing was prompted by a monitoring report of the agency’s deputies, as well as by online reactions to the interview.

“Unang reaction na naririnig ko… may lumabas ngang salita na mababahala ka talaga,” he said during an interview with ABS-CBN News.

“But remember, this is a remedial measure conference dahil we would want it holistically,” Villareal added. “Ang aming tinutuuanan ay programa, not personalities.”

“Now, ‘yung segment na ito na onscreen conversation with a lawyer, per their own records ay public affairs. Eh naka-embed ‘yan doon sa programang ‘yun. Certainly, may posibilidad always na may mga batang manonood na baka mapulot ito at cause of concern para sa atin ‘yan,” he said.

“Kailangang may respeto kahit kanino man. Dahil nga ang binigay na rating dito ay PG, ibig sabihin niyan, alam nating may batang manonood. At ‘yung ibibigay nating ehemplo sa kanila sa… ay kung paano tayo nakikipag-usap sa nagiging guest o nai-interview.

“And we’re here actually to help dahil magandang pag-usapan na ito dahil ang segment ay nasa kalagitnaan ng public affairs program. Paano natin maso-solve? At pa’no maiiwasan? At sinong responsable? Kaya nga nagpatawag kami ng isang conference kung saan maaring ilahad ang nangyari, pa’no ma-prevent, at best practices,” he said.

WATCH! The first trailer for the Vice Ganda-starrer “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy,” an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Released online on Wednesday, the three-minute trailer features Vice Ganda as gay man and a lesbian who grows up in the care of their mother, portrayed by Maricel Soriano, and as a straight man and woman who are raised by their rich father, played by Joey Marquez.

“Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” is directed by Wenn V. Deramas and is a co-production between ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and Viva Films.

Last year, Vice Ganda together with Kris Aquino and Ai Ai delas Alas soared high in the film “Sisterakas.” Also directed by Deramas, the comedy film went on to become the highest grossing Philippine film of all time.

In addition to this, Vice Ganda’s big-screen-starrers were also massive box-office successes. “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin” and “This Guy’s in Love with U Mare,” released in 2011 and 2012, respectively, are among the top 10 all-time highest grossing films in the country.

“Ayokong mag-expect, pero meron akong pinagdadasal,” Vice Ganda said in an earlier interview, referring to his hopes of success for the new film. “Syempre pinagdadasal na ‘yung success na nakuha ko last year, sana gano’n uilt ‘diba. At kine-claim ko na na magiging gano’n ‘to ulit.”

Completing the cast of “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” are Xyriel Manabat, JM Ibanez, Rhed Bustamante, Kiray Celis, Cristine Reyes, JC de Vera, Ejay Falcon and Ruffa Gutierrez.

“Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy,” along with seven other entries to the 39th MMFF, will hit theaters nationwide on Christmas day.

Host-comedian Vice Ganda was honest enough to say that he wants his film, “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” to beat Kris Aquino’s “My Little Bossings” in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

Vice-Ganda-and-Kris-Aquino

‘Yun ang ipinagdarasal ko,” Vice Ganda said in an interview during a press conference on Wednesday for his upcoming film.

The comedian believes there is nothing wrong with wanting to get the top spot at the annual film festival.

“Kasi katulad ng lagi kong sinasabi, wala namang masama at wala namang taong magagalit sa akin kapag sinabi ko na kini-claim ko na magna-number one ako. Kasi kapag narinig ng Diyos, ibibigay sa akin kapag gusto niyang ibigay,” he said.

Having the same people behind his previous box office hits, Vice Ganda is confident that “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” will do well in this year’s MMFF.

“Confident ako kasi same team kami noong gumawa ng mga pelikulang nagawa ko, ‘yung ‘Petra’ (Petrang Kabayo), ‘Benjamin,’ (Praybeyt Benjamin), ‘Sisterakas’ tapos ito.

“‘Yun at ‘yun din ang mga taong kasama ko na ‘yung tiwala ko ay 100% ibinigay ko sa kanila. At sila din, 100% binigay nila. At saka bonggang bongga itong pelikulang ito, wala na akong hahanapin pa,” he said.

“Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” and “My Little Bossings,” which stars Aquino’s youngest son James “Bimby” Yap Jr., will hit theaters on December 25.

The annual ABS-CBN Christmas concert happened to be a fundraising event for people in the Visayas who survived a 7.2-magnitude earthquake and the wrath of the super typhoon “Yolanda.”

The concert featured songs of hope and unity, with stars highlighting the value of giving, especially during the Christmas season.

Unlike past ABS-CBN Christmas specials, “Kwento ng Pasko: Pag-asa at Pagbangon” was a little bit toned down in terms of production as its true intent was to mount aid for the people affected by recent calamities.

Among the personalities who lent their talents at the holiday special were Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Anne Curtis, Angel Locsin, Coco Martin, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla, and Kathryn Bernardo.

With the 23% nationwide figure, it was recorded to be higher than last year’s opening-day gross, which was at P105 million. The 2012 MMFF earned over P700 million throughout its run, beating the record of P636 million set the previous year.

Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel” similarly centers on feuding twins, played by award-winning actress Eugene Domingo, in the film series’ third entry since 2009. The movie is a co-production between MJM Productions and Quantum Films.

As of the December 25 close of screenings in Metro Manila and provincial theaters, ranking first in earnings is “My Little Bossings,” followed by “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay,” and “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel,” according to Tolentino.

Tolentino did not specify the box-office figures for each film.

Shortly after the MMFF awards night on Friday, the comedian said he is overwhelmed that the movie is proving to be his most successful film to date.

“Nagulat kami na tinalo pa nito yung ‘Sisterakas’ eh laking laki na kami doon sa movie na ‘yun. Kaya nakakatuwa. Nakakatuwang isipin na kahit sinong kasama ko sa pelikula, kahit ako lang, pinapanuod pa rin nila at naeg-eenjoy pa rin sila sa pelikula,” he said.

The 2012 MMFF entry ”Sisterakas,” which Vice Ganda starred in along with Kris Aquino and Ai Ai delas Alas, topped last year’s MMFF competition in earnings. It went to become the highest grossing Philippine film of all time.

“Sobrang salamat sa lahat ng tumangkilik sa lahat ng entry sa Metro Manila Film Festival, lalong lalo na sa lahat ng nakipagsiksikan para makapanuod ng ‘Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” he added.

With MFF’s nationwide gross of P134 million on opening day, the first-day take of “My Little Bossings” is a notable fraction followed by  ”Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” which stars Vice Ganda as quadruplets of both sexes and different sexual orientations.. The film also won 2nd Best Picture, trailing the action flick “10,000 Hours” and just above the Aquino-backed comedy film.

“Wala akong inasahang award. Pumunta lang ako dito kasi gusto kong um-outfit,” he said.

The film, directed by Wenn Deramas, was also named the Most Gender-Sensitive Film in the main competition. Screen veteran Maricel Soriano won Best Actress for her role as Vice Ganda’s mother.

When asked on whether he prefers to have a blockbuster movie or a multi-awarded film, the comedian answered, “Blockbuster.”

“Kasi wala pa naman akong acting award kaya okay na ako sa blockbuster,” he said.

Other MMFF entries include “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay,” “KimmyDora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel,” “Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill (The Arturo Porcuna Story),” the historical biopic “Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir,” and the dance musical “Kaleidoscope World.”

The movie, which was named second best picture during the MMFF awards night last Friday, has consistently ranked among the top grossing entries in this year’s film fest, along with another comedy flick, “My Little Bossings,” and the horror film “Pagpag.”

According to del Rosario, the box-office take of “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” is higher than that of “Sisterakas” at this point last year.

“Sisterakas,” which also starred Vice Ganda, together with Ai Ai delas Alas and Kris Aquino, went on to become the highest grossing local movie of all time.

Vice Ganda, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude upon learning that the film was praised by many.

Other MMFF entries include “My Little Bossings,” “Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay,” “KimmyDora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel,” “10,000 Hours,” “Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill (The Arturo Porcuna Story),” the historical biopic “Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir,” and the dance musical “Kaleidoscope World.”
