In account of the strong box-office numbers of competing comedy entries, the Christmas Day box office of the annual film festival racked up a total of P134 million, according to Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Francis Tolentino.

With the 23% nationwide figure, it was recorded to be higher than last year’s opening-day gross, which was at P105 million. The 2012 MMFF earned over P700 million throughout its run, beating the record of P636 million set the previous year.
